Effective date: October 29, 2026
Summary
- You don’t need to give us your name or email address to read pages or download files
- We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help. It stays off for visitors whose device uses a time zone in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, unless they turn it on, and anyone can turn it on or off with the buttons on this page
- Our hosting and security providers process your IP address to deliver the site and keep it safe
- If you email us, we use your message only to reply and to improve the site
- We don’t sell your personal information or use it for advertising
Information we collect
Pages you visit
We use Google Analytics 4, added through Google’s Site Kit plugin for WordPress. When it runs, it records:
- which pages you view and how you reached the site
- your browser and device type
- your approximate location, such as your country or city
- actions on a page, such as downloading a file or answering “Was this page useful?”
Google works out your approximate location from your IP address. For visitors in the EU, Switzerland and the UK, Google says Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
When analytics cookies are on, Google Analytics stores two cookies in your browser, _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, so that it can tell repeat visits apart. They expire two years after your last visit unless you delete them sooner.
We have set Google Analytics up this way:
- Advertising features are off for every visitor: we tell Google not to use the data for ads or ad personalization
- If your device is set to a time zone in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, Google Analytics does not run unless you turn it on below
- If Google places you in one of those countries but your device uses another time zone, Google Analytics runs without cookies. It still sends Google a basic record of each page you view
- In the United Kingdom and everywhere else, Google Analytics runs with cookies unless you turn it off below
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics does not run in that browser unless you turn it on below
Your analytics choice for this browser
These buttons need JavaScript in your browser.
When you turn Google Analytics off, it stops sending information to Google from this browser, and its cookies are deleted. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage, so clearing your browser data resets it. You can also block cookies in your browser settings or install Google’s opt-out add-on, which works on every site that uses Google Analytics.
There is no agreed standard for the Do Not Track setting in browsers, so the site does not respond to it. We do act on Global Privacy Control, as described above. We don’t allow other parties to collect information through our site about your activity across other websites.
Delivery and security
Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks, and Hostinger hosts it. Both process your IP address, browser details, the page you asked for and the time of the request, because a website cannot be delivered without them. These records are used for security and troubleshooting and are kept only for a limited period. Cloudflare may place a short-lived security cookie in your browser, for example after a security check.
Emails you send us
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, your name if your email shows it, and your message. We use them to reply, to fix the page you wrote about and to keep a record of corrections. Our email runs on Google’s Gmail service.
What we don’t collect
HR Riant has no accounts, sign-up forms, comment forms or newsletter, and downloads never ask for personal details. Please don’t email us sensitive information about yourself or an employee, such as health details.
Why we use your information
- To deliver the site and keep it secure
- To understand which pages and files are useful, so we can improve them
- To reply to your messages and correct mistakes
Where data protection law asks for a legal basis, as it does in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland:
- If your device uses a time zone in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, Google Analytics runs only with your consent, which you give with the buttons above
- For everything else, including analytics for other visitors, we rely on our legitimate interests in running, measuring and improving the site and in answering your messages
UK law allows cookies that are used only to measure and improve a website without consent, as long as you get clear information about them and a simple, free way to object. This page gives you both.
Who else handles your information
We share information only with the providers that run the site for us:
| Provider | What they do for us | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Analytics and email | policies.google.com/privacy | |
| Cloudflare | Site delivery and security | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Hostinger | Web hosting | hostinger.com/legal/privacy-policy |
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the site and its visitors from fraud or abuse. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Google, Cloudflare and Hostinger each explain in their privacy policies how they protect data sent abroad, for example with standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Google Analytics: event-level and user-level data for no longer than 14 months. Reports that show only totals and don’t identify you are kept while our account exists
- Server and security records at Hostinger and Cloudflare: for the limited period each provider needs for security and troubleshooting
- Emails: up to 24 months after our last exchange, unless we need them longer to deal with a legal claim
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you and give you a copy
- Correct it
- Delete it
- Stop or limit how we use it, or object to our use of it
- Send it to you in a format you can move to another service
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time with the buttons above. To make a request, email [email protected]; we may need to confirm your identity first. Using these rights will not change how you can use the site.
If you are in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. In the European Economic Area, you can complain to your national data protection authority. In Switzerland, you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner at edoeb.admin.ch. We would welcome the chance to sort out your concern first, so please write to us before you do.
Children
HR Riant is written for people at work. It is not meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect information about them.
Security
The whole site runs over HTTPS. Only the people who run HR Riant can sign in to its admin area.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the effective date at the top, and if a change affects how we use your information, we will also say so at the top of this page. Our terms of use cover the rest of how the site works, and you can always contact us with a question about your data.
